Amish writes about a near perfect land called Meluha, the land created by Lord Ram and inhabited by Suryavanshis, face constant threat from Chandravanshis who allegedly have connived at them, making an alliance with the dreaded deformed terrorists – Nagas. The backgrounds of ancient civilizations like Harappa and Indus acts as taste makers of the story. In this book, Amish expresses the story of Shiva, a tribal man with flesh and battle scars, who existed around 1900 B.C, later became a legend and people give him the status of God. Shiva is well-known for his passionate love, fearsome temper, and divine dance- tandavam. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Shiva is the God of annihilation, whose role is destroying the evil at the appropriate time, for the smooth functioning of the universe. Obviously, this is the best plot for thrilling story with twists and turns. Immortals of Meluha, the first book of Shiva trilogy by Amish Tripati, is a tasty cocktail of myth and reality, has definitely struck a chord on reader’s mind. Indian civilization,is one of the oldest and richest civilization with so many stories and legends, most of which have traversed across generations word of mouth.
